There is a thrill of love and fear
that keeps me up at night,
and when you ask what I’m thinking,
here’s what goes through my mind:
Thank you
for making me constantly aware
of the pleasure wells
held within my body,
for keeping me conscious
of the spots that trigger
goose bumps and pleased smiles,
for reminding me of
the flowing rivers
that innervate my skin and flesh.
Thank you
for always making sure I remember
how enjoyable it is
to be spoiled and cuddled,
to fall asleep hugged,
to wake up kissed,
to be looked at with eyes
that water “I’m falling for you,”
to be wrapped in arms
that hold “Don’t go away,”
to be brushed by lips
that don’t pronounce
the words our bodies shout.
